Morón de la Frontera “Gazpacho Andaluz”

In the heat of the summer months Morón de la Frontera holds a festival filled with Andalusian heritage and featuring two traditional specialties: flamenco and gazpacho.  Founded in 1963, the flamenco festival in Morón came about after local flamenco artists and fans attended a similar festival in nearby Utrera.  Over the years the festival has brought many flamenco musicians, singers and dancers to the small town, including Antonio Mairena, Perrate y Bambino de Utrera, El Lebrijano, Gabriela Ortega, Juan Talega, Pepe Ríos, Joselero, Diego del Gastor, Manolo Morilla, Paco del Gastor, Andorrano and Gitanillo de Puebla de Cazalla.  The venue is in Morón’s own Plaza de Toros, situated on the edge of the historic center of the town.  To keep the attendees refreshed the traditional cold summer soup of gazpacho is the official culinary companion to the festival.
